Single Cask Nation news and updates

Apparently launching with four whiskies was not good enough. We just had to add a fifth whisky to our retail launch!

You'll likely recall us announcing the launch of our Single Cask Nation retail line which includes three single malt whiskies (Ardmore, Glenrothes, and Glentauchers, all 8 years old) as well as a single grain whisky (Girvan 10yo).

Because of who we are, we're just not good at leaving well enough alone.

With that said, we're very excited to announce a fifth whisky to our initial launch! We're chuffed, too, to let you know it's a 20yo gem from the Ben Nevis distillery (a favorite distillery of ours), and this whisky spent its entire life in a refill oloroso sherry puncheon.

Details and tasting notes are as follows:

Single Cask Nation Ben Nevis cask 2011 sherry puncheonBen Nevis 20yo, refill oloroso sherry puncheon

This cask bottling, distilled in November 1996, spent twenty years maturing in a refill oloroso sherry puncheon.  It was bottled at cask strength in January of 2017 at 55.6% ABV.  Cask #2011 yielded 321 bottles.

Color: Polished brass

Nose: Has a terrific weight to it with green and yellow wine gums, warm sugar cookies, candied nuts, creme brûlée, spun sugar, and a hint of pine

Palate: Complex and multi-layered given the experience begins with slightly medicinal notes but then moves quickly to flavors of Parma Violets, Medjool dates, hint of cocoa and coffee beans, Filberts, cookies and cream

Finish: Long and warming with a rich sweetness (chocolate truffles), vanilla wafers, molasses cookies, and dark wood

On the label: A complex, multi-layered whisky with great weight that opens on candied nuts and spun sugar before becoming dense and fruity mid-palate with dark cocoa/coffee notes that finishes with a rich sweetness

This whisky has a suggested retail price of $200 per bottle.

A list of our distributors will be made available shortly but you can expect to find this whisky in CA/CT/IL/MA/NJ/NY
