Paul John 5 Peated Ex-Bourbon
$145.00This cask bottling of Indian single malt, distilled in January 2015 at Paul John distillery in Goa, spent 5 full years maturing in a 1st fill bourbon barrel. Cask #6341 was removed from wood September 2020 and bottled in May 2022, yielding 160 bottles at a cask strength of 56.7% ABV.
Our tasting notes are as follows:
Color: Fresh Motor Oil
Nose: The peat leads the way with notes of backyard campfires, freshly cleaned swimming pools, and even clean hospital bandages, but there’s also a brightness with tropical fruit, vanilla custard, and semolina pudding
Palate: Mouth coating with sweet grain, gentle oak spice, quince jam, barbecued pineapple, peanut skins, and a hint more vanilla custard
Finish: Pleasantly drying with rhubarb and custard hard candies and more oak spice while the barbecued pineapple lingers in the background
