"The Water of Life - A Whisky Film"
This collaboration between The Water of Life Film and Single Cask Nation is a delicious celebration of the very spirit that brings us all together. And speaking of community spirit, each individual bottle of this collaborative bottling comes with a ticket to a future Nation viewing of The Water of Life Film with panel Q&A to follow. More details to come on the date and time of that viewing.
This cask bottling, distilled in November 2003, was matured in a 2nd fill ex-oloroso sherry butt. It was bottled at cask strength in May 2021 at 54.4% ABV. Cask #2398 yielded 360 bottles.
Our tasting notes are as follows:
Color: Reflective Copper
Nose: Upon opening there’s granola fresh from the oven and warm fruit cake then a distinct floral element (summer flowers on a window ledge) that’s framed by fragrant wood smoke
Palate: The wood smoke from the nose comes out swinging on the palate but there’s also firm malt, toasted hazelnuts, crystallized ginger, and cracked peppercorns
Finish: Warm and spicy with lasting honey and gingerbread notes
The Stones of Stenness is a neolithic stone circle on the Scottish island of Orkney that dates to at least 3100 BCE. Only four stones remain of the original twelve that stood in an ellipse formation. The Stones of Stenness is considered one of the oldest stone circles in the British Isles.
