Our tasting notes are as follows:

Color: Dark Maple Syrup, reflective

Nose: Dill and pine twigs, prevalent wood, dandelion jam, A nose with texture, etrog or citron, straw barn and feedbag, dill bubble gum (if there were such a thing), soft on the nose given the ABV, hint of floral floor cleaner, well integrated nose, grey pepper, oatmeal with fresh green apple.

Palate: Yellow wine gums, dry vermouth on the back of the palate, clean damp sponge, toffee to the front of the palate, Ground grey pepper, with a good deal of salt water taffy (soft, ripe plantain), eucalyptus, incredibly oily, white cranberry leads to the finish

Finish: Angel food cake long and drying with a waxy/oily mouth coating

On the label: An intense rye profile, yellow and red fruits intertwine with herbal notes, beguiling oily texture and warm toffee flavors

Catoctin Creek® Distilling Company was founded by Becky and Scott Harris in 2009 as the first legal distillery in Loudoun County since before Prohibition. They are located in Purcellville, Virginia, in the heart of the Loudoun Valley. Loudoun County, often called D.C.'s Wine Country, is home to more than twenty vineyards and wineries, and one distillery.

The name "Catoctin" is a regional name. Pronounced Ka-TOCK-tin, the name derives from the Indian tribal name "Kittocton" which, legend has it, meant "place of many deer". Catoctin describes a range of mountains and the creek which flows picturesquely into the Potomac River and Chesapeake Watershed.
