Copperworks 3 New Charred Oak

$95.00
We're celebrating our very first collaboration with Seattle’s Copperworks Distillery, named 2018’s Distillery of the Year by the American Distilling Institute, as we continue to champion American Single Malt Whisky.

This marriage of two new charred oak casks (#294 and #321) is a combination of Washington-grown and Oregon-grown Genie barley grown in 2017 and distilled in late 2018 and early 2019. Bottled in August of 2022 the marriage yielded 450 bottles at 56.1% ABV.

Our tasting notes are as follows:

Color: Deep Golden Honey

Nose: Very malty up front with warm hay, poached peaches, and caraway seeds. Banana peels and a paper bag of black licorice All-Sorts. Delicate floral notes come around after further investigation. Dig even deeper and candied apples and barnyard aromas present themselves.

Palate: Bright and crisp upon entry. Think HoneyCrisp apples, banana taffy, and apricot seeds/nuts (slightly bitter). Red waxy lips, candy buttons, and Charlie Chan bubble gum. A wonderful display of penny candies! Great texture which is both oily and wonderfully effervescent. The liquid dances along your tongue.

Finish: Hints of fresh ground coffee but the brightness overcomes and the apples return and, seemingly, do not want to go away any time soon…

On the label: Spirit of Collaboration Since 2011
