"Yum, Yum, Yum!"

This collaboration between Hello From The Magic Tavern and Single Cask Nation is as delicious as it is fun! But what else would you expect when one team that loves comedy podcasts meets another that loves single cask whisky.

This cask bottling, distilled in December 2004, was matured in a 2nd fill ex-Pedro Ximenez sherry hogshead. It was bottled at cask strength in January 2018 at 57.4% ABV. Cask #76 yielded 294 bottles.

Our tasting notes are as follows:

Color: Polished Brass

Nose:  Immediate peat reek (although very different from a blast of Islay peat) with fresh pears, warm applesauce with cinnamon, warm straw, and damp seasoned oak, before hints of slivered almonds and clove cigarettes appear

Palate:  Rich, unctuous mouthfeel with smoked candy corn, dark chocolate covered espresso beans, toasted hazelnuts, fresh bandages and hints of fresh kippers. Wafts of heavy floral peat smoke transition into the finish...

Finish:  Long, warm, and lasting with lingering smoke, rum soaked sponge cake, and hints of white pepper

On the label: This smoky and nutty Orkney treat goes down easy while offering the drinker floral and earthy notes. Simply put, it is unlike anything in the distillery’s standard lineup. If the role of the independent bottler is to pull back the curtain on a distillery this release represents mission accomplished.

The Stones of Stenness is a neolithic stone circle on the Scottish island of Orkney that dates to at least 3100 BCE. Only four stones remain of the original twelve that stood in an ellipse formation. The Stones of Stenness is considered one of the oldest stone circles in the British Isles.
