This cask bottling, distilled in April 2007, spent ten years maturing in a first fill ex-bourbon barrel before maturing for an extra eight months in an ex-rye quarter cask. It was bottled at cask strength in January of 2018 at 57.1% ABV. Cask #68362 yielded 144 bottles.
Our tasting notes are as follows:

Color: Orange Blossom Honey

Nose: Rich, sweet malt with pronounced ripe melon notes that give way to candy necklaces and watches with hints of aniseed, flowering honeysuckle and damp hay around the edges

Palate: A multi-layered palate opens with a ripe fruitiness (melons, apricots, and oranges) followed by a subtle rye spiciness and green apple tartness before giving way to a honeyed malt sweetness

Finish: Lingering sweet malt, unmistakeable ripe melons, and a warming rye spice

On the label: A multi-layered experience that delivers malt sweetness, rye spice, and ripe fruit in waves. The rye cask finishing delivers flavors rarely found in Scottish single malt.

Tamdhu Distillery, founded in 1896 and located in the heart of Speyside, is the only distillery in Scotland using a Saladin box maltings. Mothballed by Edrington in 2010 the distillery has been under the control of Ian McLeod Distillers since 2012, winning multiple awards for their Tamdhu 10 Year Old and Tamdhu Batch Strength releases. The majority of their maturation is done using first and second fill sherry butts.
