This cask bottling, distilled in July 2005, spent ten years maturing in a refill ex-bourbon hogshead.  It was bottled at cask strength in August of 2015 at 56.7% ABV.  Cask #10 yielded 235 bottles.

Our tasting notes are as follows:

Color: Light gold

Nose: Opens with a delightful onion bagel/pickled onion pungency that's followed by an earthiness and a brininess with obvious old boat ropes (a staple of this distillery's profile)

Palate: Oily and pungent with sweet peat (similar to burning marshmallows in this instance)

Finish: Creamy and buttery with lingering peat smoke, vanilla, and damp charred sticks

On the label: Pungent and coastal with old boat ropes on the nose followed by a sweet tarriness on the palate and a long smoky finish

Established in 1798, the Tobermory distillery is the only distillery on the island of Mull.  Originally named Ledaig (Le'chig) that name is now reserved for the heavily peated spirit the distillery produces. Despite a series of multi-decade closures in the distillery's history it has produced spirit uninterrupted since 1989. Annual production is currently 1 million liters.
The phenol level  (peatiness) on the barley for this whisky is between 40-45 ppm.
