Dalmunach 10 Year Old

Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Built atop the ruins of the old Imperial Distillery (Joshua’s 2nd favorite distillery, ever), the Dalmunach distillery has been producing whisky for around 12 years. They’ve a big, heavy, and fruity spirit that’s just as expressive and unique as Imperial once was.

We purchased the Dalmunach whisky from bourbon cask and filled a Miguel Martin sherry butt with that spirit more than 5 years ago. The result is a deeply rich and flavorful sherried Speysider with notes of stewed apricots, quince jam, red licorice, coffee, and cloves. 

We bottled only 164 bottles from this sherry butt, leaving the remainder of the liquid to continue maturing in that fine sherry butt. The idea is to give people the ability to watch/taste a cask of whisky as it matures, in the same way we do.

Tasting Notes

NOSE: Warm, rich nose with stewed apricots over fresh granola, grilled peaches, warm malted barley and oatcakes, quince jam, warm red licorice, clove, and fresh cracked black pepper

PALATE: Full, mouthcoating texture with warm stone fruits, malted barley, wholewheat toast, walnuts, all-spice, crystallized ginger, and then a burst of coffee notes (coffee beans, tiramisu, and coffee granules) as it transitions towards the finish

FINISH: Wonderful length with lingering sweet coffee, milk chocolate, honey, and warm granola
