Not all peat is created equal. Not all sweet is the same. Here's the proof:
Our Arran 8yo is lightly peated using peat from the Highlands of Scotland so there's no coastal/iodine/band-aid quality to it. Add to that, it's fully matured in a 1st fill Bourbon cask so the fruits are orchard fruits (apples, pears, stone fruits).
Conversely, our Williamson 9yo spent its last 3.5 years in a PX Sherry cask so you'll get that classic Islay peat & smoke (a touch coastal, Iodine, and rugged) from the spirit yet the PX Sherry cask rounds out the Islay peat with rich dark fruits, white chocolate, and even some rich cheesecake!
A great side by side allowing you to discover the range of flavors from distillery to distillery, peat-type to peat-type, and cask-type to cask-type.
