Tasting Notes

NOSE: Pleasing age with old books, leather armchairs, and mahogany but also sweeter, brighter notes like brandied cherries, marzipan, Licorice All-Sorts, and fruit cake.

PALATE: Lovely oily mouthfeel with dark cherries, dried mango, sweet pipe tobacco, blanched almonds, and soft clove.

FINISH: Long and lasting with a pleasing brightness and notes of runny honey, granola, and fruit cake.

Description

Miltonduff’s spirit character is known for being rich and peppery and this is something their parent company leans into when they use it for their Ballantine’s blend. At 22 years of age, and with 5 years in a PX seasoned STR cask, some of that peppery quality has been traded for red fruits, marzipan, cloves, and granola. We’re not complaining!
