Tasting Notes

NOSE: Coal smoke, freshly smoked kippers, salted potato chips, warm straw, hint of antiseptic ointment around the edges.

PALATE: Oily and viscous with sea salt, charred wood briquettes, white cake (aka vanilla sponge cake), cashews, and white pepper.

FINISH: Smokey and salty with charred wood and a hint of marzipan.

Now, see? This is how we tend to like our Islay whiskies: matured in refill casks. A bit less oak and a bit more Islay. This Bunnahabhain Staoisha is for the lover of big smoke bombs. Never fear though, there’s vanilla sweetness and an almond-like nuttiness that keeps the smoke in check.
