Tasting Notes

NOSE: Fruit and cereal notes to the front (poached pears, baked apples, and oatmeal) with cinnamon, ground ginger, and gentle oak spice behind.

PALATE: Mouthcoating texture with oak spice to the front of the palate and warm cinnamon running down the middle of the tongue, becoming buttery and nutty in time (almond croissants come to mind).

FINISH: Lovely length with a lingering hum of cinnamon and oak spice, dark chocolate and café au lait notes keep it mellow.

Description

Glentauchers is easily one of our most favorite distilleries. Their whisky is always rich and cereal-sweet forward and, as the spirit starts to get a little older, it becomes one of the most balanced drops to put in your whisky glass. The time spent in a PX Sherry Barrique has added gobs of baking spices, chocolate, and baked apples.
