Tasting Notes

NOSE: Very nutty at first sniff with freshly shelled peanuts, slivered almonds, and toasted walnuts but then cloves, ripe bananas, vanilla ice cream, and even a maraschino cherry on top. Oh, and it’s smoky, too!

PALATE: A lovely fruitiness that’s balanced by minerality and cask char (despite this being fully matured in refill bourbon). Notes of white peach, starfruit, iodine, sea salt crystals, salted caramel, and beach campfire.

FINISH: Can a finish have texture? The tongue remains oily with lingering sea salt, cloves, iodine, and beach campfire.

Description

This charmer called “Williamson” is from a south shore Islay distillery whose name we can not divulge. The spirit was named after Bessie Williamson, Distillery Manager and Owner from 1954 to 1972. A wonderful way to honor women in whisky! The style of this cask is true to the distillery but far fruitier than the distillery normally bottles.
